More Than a $100,000 Job
I think it was my first time or my second time going up to Bard. It really introduced me into writing and I enjoyed it.
One time I was a peer councilor and it really opened my eyes. I like working with kids. If they didn’t understand something, and then you teach it to them, and you see that smile on their face. I mean that’s something that no $100,000 job could ever replace. You’ll remember that for the rest of your life.
Making teaching an aspirational and respected profession should be easy. It is in Denmark. Singapore too. But not in America. Are we lacking in imagination and foresight in finding ways to inculcate teaching and a learning life as socially viable and vital one one ? Or are we content with platitudes like being "life long learning"?
