Learning from Each Other
The classes that we do here are very different. We come into the classroom, and it really isn’t a teacher-to-student relationship. Everyone here is equal and we’re all here to learn from each other. That includes the teacher’s learning from the students, and the students learning from the councellers and the teachers. It just made a huge difference in the way we learn.
And there was a lot of hands-on. Our field trips down to the reservoir, grasping a video camera and really learning how to use it in video taping. It’s very different.
Co-creating conditions for young people to thrive. Both with natural habitiat as well as human made. Bank Street and Bard provided environments with an ethos that honored learning.
